FACTOR IX

FACTOR IX is one of the proteins in the body that helps the blood clot. This test is done to examine the activity of factor IX. The second most common form of Hemophilia is caused due to deficiency of Factor IX. 1 in 25000 to 30000 males are affected due to the linked disorder.

How to prepare for the test?

Brief clinical history should be provided and overnight fasting is recommended. Patients should discontinue heparin for 1 day and oral anticoagulants should be stopped for days before collecting samples. These drugs affect test results. Discontinuation should be done on the consent of the physician.
