Heat Stroke:

Clinically termed as hyperthermia, heat stroke is one of the most common health problems in summer. It happens when you are exposed to the heat and sun for long intervals. The common symptoms of heat stroke are headaches, dizziness, and weakness which often results in unconsciousness, organ failure and in worst cases, it may even lead to loss of life.

You must stay hydrated during summer to avoid heat stroke. In case you have early symptoms of hyperthermia, you must cool down your body externally and internally by switching to a lighter diet, refraining from going out in the sun, getting adequate rest and staying hydrated always.

Dehydration:

Sweating causes the body to lose essential fluids and minerals. If this water loss is not compensated with a fresh supply of hydrating agents, the body tends to become weak and dehydrated. Water is very important for several bodily functions to run smoothly, and is by far the most important practice to avoid dehydration in summer.

Food Poisoning:

Food poisoning is one of the most common summer ailments. The primary reason for food poisoning in summer is the intake of contaminated water or food. It’s advisable to avoid consumption of food items from unhygienic sources, undercooked meat/ eggs, and water from unfiltered sources. Consult your physician immediately in case you develop any symptoms of food poisoning in summer.

Chicken Pox & Measles:

Chicken pox and measles are also common during the summer. The symptoms of the diseases differ as Chicken Pox includes scabs, blisters, itchy skin, redness, high-grade fever, loss of appetite, and headache, while Measles can be identified with high fever, cough, runny nose, sore throat and red eyes. Seek immediate medical consultation upon detection of any of the above-mentioned symptoms.

Mumps:

Mumps is a contagious viral disease that mainly affects children. It is transmitted through sneezing and coughing from one person to another. The parotid gland in front of the ears get swelled up and the person experiences pain, fever and difficulty in swallowing.

Typhoid:

It is a water-borne disease which can be identified when a patient is suffering from high fever, fatigue, weakness, abdominal pain, headache and loss of appetite. Immediate doctor advice is a must to prevent severe consequences.

These are some of the most common summer diseases that can hit you in the hot season. Stay hydrated, avoid poor quality food and water and stay healthy this summer to avoid these diseases.
