Double Marker Screening 1st Trimester
Double Marker Test (PAPP-A and hCG) as a part of screening during the first-trimester of pregnancy is useful in assessing the risk of a fetus developing Down syndrome (trisomy 21- a genetic disease). The two markers included in this screening test include,
The test is one of the options for prenatal Down syndrome screening.
The test may be advised between the 11th and 14th weeks of pregnancy.
A blood sample is collected from the vein in the arm of the individual using a needle.
