HIV I and HIV II Antibodies Test

There are two types of HIV viruses that cause AIDS: HIV type 1 or HIV-1 is common, whereas HIV type 2 or HIV-2 which is confined to West Africa. However, type 2 virus has been detected in persons who have come in contact with the people of that region. The antibodies against these two types of viruses appear after six to twelve weeks of exposure. The tests that are repeatedly reactive by these methods should be confirmed by confirmatory antibody testing.
