Peripheral smear for Malaria Parasite

The preparation of a peripheral smear and its microscopic examination is considered as the “Gold Standard” for laboratory confirmation of malaria, is the most widely accepted method for the diagnosis of the malady. The microscopic test involves the collection of a blood sample; and the formation of either a thick or a thin smear; followed by the staining and observation of the smear under a microscope.
